Service Description
This four-day workshop is for those looking for new ideas and tools to bring more nature-based arts to their own programming. Workshops are based on the Wild Arts Learning Curriculum and allow time and space to explore how to contextualize for your own environment. SCHEDULE (Subject to Change) DAY 1: BOTANICAL PRINTING & NATURAL DYES - Preparation of materials for lasting colors - How to make and use natural dyes in different projects - Printing techniques on paper and fabric - Flower pounding - Botanical plaster casting DAY 2: PIGMENTS, PAINTS & STICKS - Lake pigments from left-over dye pots - Earth pigments - Natural, non-toxic watercolor and gouache paints - Pigment sticks: chalk, charcoal, wax Day 3 - Nature journal binding and creating - Why use journaling in your classroom - Nature drawing and watercolor - Observation writing skills - Tools and resources to share Day 4: Weaving the Wild - How to process wild plants like yucca and cattails for easy weaving projects - Papermaking with plant fibers - Finish projects / open studio - Open discussion on how to incorporate into your classroom WHAT'S INCLUDED: All materials needed for the event Snacks and drinks Handouts for all classes with note-taking pages included Unlimited access to the Wild Arts Online Learning Library of classes PLEASE BRING: - Apron - Mask - although we don't work with toxic materials, it's recommended to wear a mask when working with powders and pigments so they aren't inhaled. - Reusable rubber gloves - Water bottle (to save on dishes) This event is hosted at the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO.
